GRAHAM RIX SERIES
After ArsenalĪ series of injuries to his achilles tendon kept Rix out of the team in the mid-1980s, and he lost his starting place in the side to Martin Hayes. Arsenal's form slumped in the early 1980s, though, meaning Rix was unable to claim any silverware as skipper. After the departure of Liam Brady to Juventus that summer, many believed Rix would also leave but he stayed at the club, and became captain in 1983. Arsenal only won one of these, in 1979 against Manchester United the final score was 3–2, with Rix crossing for Alan Sunderland's last-minute winner, just seconds after United had equalised to level the score 2–2.Īrsenal reached the Cup Winners' Cup final the following season, against Valencia the match finished 0–0 after extra time – a penalty shootout ensued, but Rix missed his kick and Arsenal lost. Together with Liam Brady he formed part of an impressive attacking midfield, which helped Arsenal to three successive cup finals between 19. Rix immediately became a regular on the left wing, replacing George Armstrong. He made his debut for the club against Leicester City on 2 April 1977, and marked it by scoring the opening goal.
GRAHAM RIX PROFESSIONAL
With the proven capacity to combine both his instrumental and DJ skills simultaneously within a live setting, and with versatility and mobility being key factors in his work generally, what he offers potentially suits a wide range of performance settings and locations.Originally from Doncaster, Yorkshire, Rix joined Arsenal as an apprentice in 1974 and turned professional the year after. Corporate performances have included events for clients the likes of Qantas, MasterCard, Bupa, Lenovo, One&Only Resorts and Sunoco, and more recently the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania. He has also previously performed as an itinerant musician on Great Southern Rail services The Ghan and The Overland. Working extensively for many years, both within Australia and abroad, he has held longer-standing residencies at various times, most notably as resident musician and DJ (chillout & deep house) at Hayman Island, Great Barrier Reef, during most of 2016.

When the occasion suits, he also gives both vocal and instrumental piano performances. This is spontaneously layered to create a unique blend of laid-back soloing and harmony lines with occasional double-tracked slide guitar, all paving the way for soulful saxophone improvisation. Presenting a finely selected repertoire of contemporary and classic rock, pop and folk songs, his current trademark performance is as a singer/guitarist with saxophone played selectively over live-looped guitar. With a focus on ‘vibe in the room’, he aims to create a unique, memorable experience, providing an opportunity for all present to simply enjoy themselves ‘in the moment’. After relocating in 2018 to Tasmania, his place of origin, Graham Rix has since been performing at prominent venues and corporate events in Hobart and surrounds.
